Suppliers of Heating Oil under fire

An inquiry into the home heating oil industry could be carried out by the Office of Fair Trading if prices aren’t dropped to reflect the current wholesale cost.

Watchdog have reported that householders are being charged over 50% more to fill their tanks than when crude oil was last at its current rate. On average consumers were paying £275 to fill a 900 litre oil tank however today it is £416.

The body has said that if prices don’t fall they will take the matter to the Office of Fair Trading.
